SUMMARY:US Navy Band Sea Chanters
DESCRIPTION:The Navy Band Sea Chanters are the United States Navy’s official chorus. The ensemble performs a variety of music including traditional choral music\, sea chanteys\, patriotic fare\, opera\, Broadway and contemporary music. The Sea Chanters regularly perform for the public in the Washington\, D.C.\, area and throughout the United States while on national tours. \nAt home in Washington\, they perform for the president\, vice president and numerous congressional\, military and foreign dignitaries. In 1956\, Lt. Harold Fultz\, then the band’s assistant leader\, organized a vocal group from the Navy School of Music to sing chanteys and patriotic songs for the State of the Nation dinner. Recognizing the ensemble’s immediate success\, Adm. Arleigh Burke\, then Chief of Naval Operations\, transferred the group to the Navy Band\, named them the Sea Chanters and tasked this all-male chorus with perpetuating the songs of the sea. In 1980\, the group added women to its ranks and expanded its repertoire to include everything from Brahms to Broadway.\nThe Sea Chanters are frequently found at the center of our most important national events\, including inauguration day performances and state funerals. They have played a vital role in comforting the nation in times of mourning\, including appearances at memorials for the astronauts of the space shuttle Columbia and the presidential wreath laying ceremony at the United Airlines flight 93 crash site in Shanksville\, Pennsylvania. \nThey have appeared at the Kennedy Center Honors and with the National Symphony Orchestra for the nationally telecast “National Memorial Day Concerts” at the U.S. Capitol. In addition\, the group has appeared on “Larry King Live” and “CBS This Morning” as well as at the premier of the movie “Pearl Harbor.” In 2008\, the Sea Chanters performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir under the direction of Mack Wilburg. Noted choral directors Dale Warland and Donald Neuen have guest conducted the ensemble\, and renowned composers Michael McCarthy\, Roger Bourland\, William MacDuff and Lloyd Pfautsch have written works especially for the ensemble. Other notable orchestral appearances include the Kansas City Symphony\, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra\, the Baltimore Symphony and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. \nThe Sea Chanters have enjoyed a great reputation performing with such stars as Perry Como\, Marian Anderson\, Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie. Throughout their history\, the Sea Chanters have remained true to the Navy’s watchwords of pride and professionalism\, and they continue to flourish as a vibrant ensemble.

DESCRIPTION:Fred Krug and Brian Crane met in high school over 30 years ago where they discovered a shared love of music in general\, and of Simon & Garfunkel in particular. They have been singing together ever since. Krug and Crane have headlined multiple concerts-in-the park around the greater Susquehanna region (Danville\, Lewisburg\, Eagles mere). They have performed sold-out shows at the Booth Theater\, and have entertained at standing-only private events at the Villages in Florida. Audiences have been delighted and moved by a tribute to the music that defined much of the folk music of the 60’s.\nFREDERICK KRUG\, sought after for his versatility and dynamism as a performer\, has delighted aficionados of classical\, jazz\, rock\, and country music alike. Mr. Krug holds a bachelor degree with high honors from the Eastman School of Music where he studied classical guitar performance under Nicholas Goluses\, composition under Stephen Fruend\, classical theory under Alec Brinkman\, and post-tonal theory under Ciro Scotto. As a founding member of the Eastman Guitar quartet\, he has premiered works by Tellef Johnson and Matthew Fuerst\, and\, with that group\, was featured in the Eastman School of Music pop symposium where he opened for Steve Vai (Whitesnake and David Lee Roth). This meeting of styles inspired Tellef Johnson to write The Prisoner\, a piece for string quartet\, heavy metal trio\, and male soprano\, which Fred premiered at Julliard’s VIA festival (Life Through Art). He has also played in master classes with Bruce Holzman and William Kanengeiser (L.A. Guitar Quartet). He currently performs as a soloist\, and as part of the top 40 group Black Ties and Bourbon. \nFred has worked extensively as a producer\, developing and recording bands and solo artists. Acts include Tim Trainer\, Pushing Mary\, Opanna Oxtium\, Veloray\, Country Music Radio\, The Busted Honeys\, and Emily Colt. With these groups\, he has performed at the Knitting Factory\, CBGB’s\, Galapagos\, Moheegan Sun\, The Block Island Music Festival\, and NY Symphony Space. He has also worked alongside legendary producer Paul Leka (Steam\, Harry Chapin\, REO Speedwagon). \nMr. Krug has developed an innovative curriculum to teach guitar\, classical theory\, and voice to a variety of students age 5-70+. He taught at the National Guitar Summer Workshop at the age of 18\, where he performed with Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big and Racer X)\, John Pettrucci (Dream Theater)\, Joe Bouchard (Blue Oyster Cult). Fred is a visiting artist Connecticut’s Region 15 school system\, and is the guitar instructor at the Rumsey Hall School in Washington\, CT\, and the Taft School in Watertown\, CT. \nBRIAN CRANE found his love of singing in the church choir as a child and in school musicals as an adolescent. He started playing the guitar in order to accompany his voice (and to attract girls). Over the years\, he developed his musicality singing\, directing\, and ultimately arranging for various choirs and a cappella groups. Brian’s college arrangement of “Dream On” caught the attention of Bobby McFerrin who selected his arrangement as the focus of a musical workshop led by the 10-time Grammy award winner. After college\, Brian joined the Washington\, DC based jam-band “Mobia’s Trip” which performed consistently throughout the DC Metropolitan area and developed a significant underground following. \nDuring this time\, Brian began developing his craft as a solo singer/songwriter. After moving to Pennsylvania\, he started performing solo — soon becoming a local favorite and consistently selling out the local venues and theaters. He has performed throughout the east coast\, including the Greenwich Odeum Theater in East Greenwich\, Rhode Island and the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, DC. \nBrian returned to his choral foundation joining Central Pennsylvania’s premier choir\, the Susquehanna Valley Chorale. His choral prowess yielded a direct invitation to sing with the Masterwork Chorus in their performance of Verdi’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall in NY.

DESCRIPTION:The mission of Army Bands is to provide music supporting unified land operations and instill in our forces the will to fight and win\, foster the support of our citizens\, and promote America’s interests at home and abroad. Army Bands serve as a combat multiplier and plays an integral part in the sustainment of forces engaged in unified land operations. \nMusical elements of the 287th Army Band include Ceremonial Band\, NOLA Brass Band\, Rock Band\, Chamber Ensemble\, Jazz Combo\, and Concert Band.We are the band of the Delaware Army National Guard. Formed in 1921\, we served in the Pacific Theater in WWII and abroad\, most recently\, in Germany.\nWe offer various musical performance teams\, to bring many varieties of music to our citizens. These include classical music with our woodwind quintet ensemble\, as well as popular music\, in addition to smooth jazz and a NOLA-style brass band. There is something for everyone. \nThe 287th Army Band’s ceremonial and concert band offers such variety as well-known marches and Americana music\, as well as popular tunes and some fun for everyone.

SUMMARY:Rehoboth Concert Band
DESCRIPTION:Rehoboth Concert Band (RCB) is an ensemble of instrumentalists at various levels of play and ages. Adults and talented youth\, from the surrounding communities\, join together to play and perform concert band literature for diverse audiences throughout southern Delaware and beyond. Concert band literature includes classical and contemporary music\, including show tunes\, film scores\, marches\, and novelty pieces. \nThe ensemble reaches for growth\, depth\, continuing improvement\, and education and enrichment for itself and the community. The band collaborates with other community organizations and individuals on performances. RCB has been invited to perform concerts as special fundraising and community service events produced by area organizations. It is funded by ticket sales from its own fundraising concerts\, grants\, donations from band and community members\, plus local businesses. \nTalented students from area schools are welcomed with a music teacher’s recommendation. \nMusic improves the quality of life for everyone. RCB is established as a charitable organization that strives to perform music for people of all economic statuses by having reduced ticket prices for some populations\, and free for others. Many concerts are free to the public. The band works hard and has lots of fun in making and sharing beautiful music.
