Five Hidden Hot Spots In Delaware Revealed
The First State Offers Travelers Culture, History, Sandy Beaches | By Jon Tuleya | Travel Locally

Delaware may be small, but it is jam-packed with sites to see and things to do, from enjoying an opera in Wilmington to exploring history in old New Castle or Dover to simply relaxing on one of the beaches in the southern end of the state.
The Grand Opera House The Grand, as it is know locally, has been a downtown Wilmington icon for more than 135 years, playing host to thousands of performers, including John Philip Sousa, Buffalo Bill Cody and Ethel Barrymore. The venue continues to attract a variety of acts appealing audiences of all ages.
Historic New Castle The original capital of the country’s first state remains a throwback to Delaware’s Dutch colonial past. Visitors to the town can check out the New Castle Historical Society’s three museums or just stroll along its cobblestone streets.
Rehoboth Beach Bandstand This beachside musical venue features four performances per week throughout the summer months. Acts span an array of genres, including jazz, blues, soul and rock, in addition to comedy and children’s shows.
Winterthur Nestled in the heart of the Brandywine Valley, this country estate displays collections of American antiques, showcasing the best in style and craftsmanship, and houses a nationally renowned research library dedicated to the study of American art and material culture. Winterthur also features a 60-acre garden and surrounding woodlands, waterways and rolling meadows.
Delaware Seashore State Park Seventy years ago the park’s 5,000-plus acres were nearly inaccessible. The barrier island is swept by strong winds and bounded on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and to the west by the Rehoboth and Indian River bays. However, nature has been tamed by man and the park has become a hotspot for enthusiasts of water-related activities.
